Is today a really Momentous Day in UK banking?

I'm not so sure what today will bring but there's one thing certain - it's not in the interests of the British taxpayer to have the banks nationalised and under the absolute control of some civil servant. After all that could be Mandelson or even Brown when he's booted out! The control freaks are out in force and are they any better than the woodworm crawling out of the finance markets? Good to hear though that the cuts are being made from the top down and that no bonus's will be paid this year!
