Defense of autistic twins Kay & Flo's sister-in-Law?

I saw the special on Kay and Flo yesterday and I loved it. When I searched for more stories about them, I discovered many people didn't like the sister-in-law's reaction to taking the twins into their care. I saw her reaction as a sign that they bit off more than they could chew. Many people underestimate what it takes to work with most autistic people. I asked questions a few weeks ago about why parents of autistic kids think their kids should be mainstreamed. I definitely understand the advantages of helping them to socialize and I felt sad that Kay & Flo's mother chose to isolate them. However, I disagree that their socialization has to be done in a way that others around them become completely consumed by the behavior of the autistic individuals. Is this wrong?
